About Cyberdeen

Expert cyber safety for children and families, built for real life.

The story

Most cyber security resources are built for companies. Firewalls, penetration tests, boardroom briefings — the industry has always spoken to organisations with budgets.

But what about everyone else?

After years working in security, that question wouldn't go away. Not when watching a grandparent nearly fall for a phone scam. Not when realising children are navigating threats online that most adults don't even know exist. Not when seeing parents feel helpless against a digital world moving faster than anyone can keep up with.

Cyberdeen started as an idea in Aberdeen — the Deen — from someone who wanted to use their security background for something that actually mattered to real people. Not a compliance framework. Not an enterprise product. A platform for families. For communities. For the people. For the children.

The name says it all. Cyber meets Deen — Aberdeen's home, now a home for anyone who wants to be safer online.

Expert-led, open to all, built to last. No data sold. No jargon. Just the knowledge every family deserves.

Our mission

Cyberdeen exists because cyber safety education is broken. Most resources are either too technical for children to engage with, too basic to teach real skills, or locked behind school subscriptions that many families cannot access.

We built something different: a free, browser-based platform that teaches digital decision-making through realistic scenarios. No accounts for children. No data collected. No paywall on the content that matters most.

Every scenario is built around how children actually use the internet — the apps they use, the messages they receive, the situations they find themselves in. The goal is not awareness. It is real, transferable skill.

How we operate

🆓

Free for everyone

Core content is free and always will be. No subscription needed to learn the fundamentals of staying safe online.

🔒

No child data

We don't require accounts for children, don't collect personal information, and don't track behaviour. Children's privacy is not negotiable.

🛡️

Honest about threats

We describe real threats in age-appropriate language. Children deserve to understand the risks they actually face — not a sanitised version.

🤝

Built for trust

No data sold. No hidden tracking. No paywalls on content that matters. We are transparent about how Cyberdeen operates and funded — if we ever have commercial relationships, they are clearly disclosed.
